The Holy Week processions of Óbidos take place through the streets of the village, inside the walls, through different spaces, such as the Village Gate, the Church of Mercy, St. James Church, the Church of Santa Maria and also the Straight Street, the main street of the village, which connects the main entrance to most village streets.
This week of religious commemoration is known as Semana Santa.

Evoking the Passion and death of Christ, Holy Week attracts many people to Óbidos for the week of processions through the historic streets.
The processions take in Palm Sunday and run through the Easter period to the procession of Jesus carrying his own cross to the crucifixion.
